The Glorious Feast of Resurrection

“I am the life and the resurrection, he who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25)

The days of resurrection are days of happiness and joy. May we be filled with joy so that we may test the power and brightness of resurrection.

How has resurrection given us joy and happiness?

Our Lord Jesus Christ Whom we follow is alive

(Mathew 28:1-8) ” 1 Now after the sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Mag’dalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulchre. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Lo, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.”

(Hebrews 12:2) ” 2 looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfected of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

(Hebrews 7:25) ” 25 Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”

We have been forgiven of our sins and are secure in our Lord

(Colossians 1:19-22) ” 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. 21 And you, who once were estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him,”

(Ephesians 4:30) ” 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

(John 10:27-30) ” 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; 28 and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

We have been given eternal life

(John 3:16) ” 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

(John 11:21-26) ” 21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?””

Heaven is going to be our eternal home

(John 14:1-2) ” 1 Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”
(John 14:3) ” 3 And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

(Revelation 22:4-5) ” 4 they shall see his face, and his name shall be on their foreheads. 5 And night shall be no more; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they shall reign forever and ever.”

We are going to be reunited with our loved ones when we get to heaven

(1 Thessalonians 4:17-18) ” 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; 17 then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ has given us a definite purpose to be alive

(Romans 13:11-12,14) “11 Besides this you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed; 12 the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; … 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

(1 Corinthians 6:19-20) “19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
